Cable TV Tuque

It's been a while folks, I know. I finished the first cable tuque, and I'm on to my next one. The green one is the one that was on display at the Loop Cafe. That's me knitting one in a red-green yarn blend on the left.

Here's another pic of the details.

Neil hasn't let me take a photo yet of him in the finished one, but it came out awesome, and he wears it all the time. I'm making one for myself now in a soft cream color.

The Loop Cafe: Knitting in Canadia II

Today I went to visit the Loop Cafe on Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia on my annual trip to Canada.
Neil (the bf) saw a hat that he loved, so I bought one skein of Cascade 220 in a red/green blend that looks brown from far away, and two skeins of Warani alpaca/merino blend in a cream color.

The pattern is a test one, so I get to be the guinea pig and try it out for Mimi, the woman at Loop who wrote the pattern.

Mimi: I'm going for it already!

Peacock Feather Scarf

Awaiting an order from KnitPicks!

I ordered the Palette sampler, one skien of each color. I'm so excited for it to come in the mail!

For Christmas my aunt Linda gave me 2 skeins of Berroco Lavish, a dark blue, light blue, green and gold lash yarn.(I think I'm using either Cadaquez or Malachite for the color? The shade card on their website is really off, so it's hard to tell.) I threw it on my yarn shelves, and I noticed the colors matched perfectly with a light blue, dark blue, and kelley green striped tubescarf that was half-finished on the same shelf. The colors made me think of peacock feathers, and I had planned on knitting up some fake feathers to add to the ends. I pulled out some purple yarn and knit six teardrop shapes, and then crocheted the novelty yarn onto the teardrops and added fringe to look like feathers. I attached the faux feathers to the ends, and it looks really cool now!

I'm applying to Nottingham Trent School in Nottingham, England for Technical Knitwear Design.
I have to put my portfolio together for my application, so wish me luck!!
